Emma during a residential dog training session. For the more problematic dog or families that simply don't have the time, Hollybarn Dog and Puppy Training Ireland offer a much more personal approach to residential dog and puppy training courses.

Residential dog and puppy training courses are run at Emma's own home in Claremorris in rural Co Mayo and comprise of a minimum two week residential stay for your dog or puppy.

While staying with us rather than your dog living in a kennel or cage they live in Emma's home in a normal day to day household and family environment and will be treated as a normal pet and part of the family rather than the more regimental kennel and boarding approach to residential training.

Residential dog and puppy training.

Courses are run at Emma's own home in Claremorris in rural Co Mayo and rather than your dog living in a kennel during their stay with us they live in a normal household environment (even if they are all shades of crazy) and will be treated as a pet and part of the family rather than the more regimental kennel and boarding approach to residential training.

We do not have any kennels on our property.

We are excited to be able to offer our residential training courses with the whole emphasis being on providing individual care and attention to your dog’s training and behaviour requirements. And don't worry, none of our training techniques employ the use of food or treats as the reward mechanism so no more carrying around pockets full of dog treats.

We have a one acre play, exercise and training area. Your dog will be trained, exercised and played with every day of his or her stay with us. Our aim is to provide a constructive and funfilled experience for them with as little stress while being away from their own family as possible.

Residential dog and puppy training.

We only take one dog or puppy for residential training at a time. This means we can concentrate on working with your pet and his or her training and behaviour issues. If you have two or more dogs living together and would like residential training for them both at the same time. We will take more than one dog from one owner.

We use positive re-inforcement techniques but do not use food as the reward mechanism.

During your dogs stay with us the following can be covered:

  • Sit to have a lead put on and leave the house without any fussIt was him.
  • Walk calmly on a lead or Halti
  • Play biting
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Sit, Lie, Stay and Come
  • Automatic Sit
  • Stop jumping on people and furniture
  • Socialisation with other dogs and people
  • Behavioural Problems

Our residential training is tailored to your individual requirements. So if there is anything that you specifically want your dog or puppy to learn or for us to address then please talk to us. We are happy to discuss ANY residential training or behaviour requirements you may have.

Our goal at Hollybarn Dog and Puppy Training Ireland is to teach you and your family how to train and interact with your dog so you can have the pet you always wanted and that's why each residential course is followed by a one to one training session in your own home so we can then teach you what your dog has learned during their stay with us.

This session is a vital part of the handover process.

Remember if residential training isn't for you then we offer professional, one to one, veterinary recommended dog and puppy training and behaviour courses, classes and sessions with a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist in your own home as well as our residential training, kennels and boarding.
